Taking the Confusion Out of Carpeting

How To Make A Mason Jar Toothbrush Holder With Dried Flowers

If you love drying out your flowers after they have died and want to have unique and homemade accessories on your bathroom counter, you might be wondering how to incorporate the flowers into the pieces you make. One item that you can make at home is a toothbrush holder. This guide explains the steps required to make one with a Mason jar.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

You don't need too many supplies to create this toothbrush holder, but you do need to gather the following items:

  • Mason jar with only the rim portion of the lid
  • thin chicken wire
  • hot glue gun
  • glue stick
  • measuring tape
  • thin marker
  • drawing compass
  • wire cutters
  • newspaper
  • dried flowers

Step 2: Set Up Your Workspace

Choose a flat surface in your home, such as the kitchen counter or a table, and cover the surface with a couple layers of newspaper. Ensure that the surface is near an outlet.

Step 3: Warm Up the Hot Glue Gun

Place a glue tube in the hot glue gun. Plug in the gun and allow it to warm up.

Step 4: Obtain the Lid Rim Diameter and Cut the Wire

Use the measuring tape to get the diameter of the lid rim. Place the thin marker into the drawing compass. Lay the chicken wire on the newspaper and insert the compass of the middle of the wire. Pull the measuring portion of the compass out to the diameter of the rim. Draw a circle on the chicken wire with the compass. Cut out the circle with the wire cutters.

Step 5: Add the Dried Flowers

Put an ample amount of dried flowers in the bottom of the Mason jar. If you want your toothbrushes to stick out of the jar higher, layer the inside of the jar with marbles, and then add the dried flowers.

Step 6: Attach the Chicken Wire

Apply small drops of glue from the hot glue gun around the inside perimeter of the Mason jar lid ring. Place the chicken wire on the glue and press down gently. Let the glue dry for several minutes. Connect the lid to the jar and set your toothbrushes in it.

In addition to using a Mason jar as a toothbrush holder, consider making a few of these to hold razors, makeup brushes and other personal care items that have thin handles. Look around your home for other items that you can turn into bathroom accessories with dried flowers to save money.
